I actually learned more in 40 minutes with Jack, than 5 lessons at an indoor facility. I am a beginner, but now at least I understand what I am trying to accomplish.
Jack is the first golf instructor I’ve worked with that doesn’t give you a “cookie cutter” lesson. He evaluated my swing and then gave me 2-3 things to focus on. Every time I’ve taken a lesson, it has improved my game. He is busy because he is THAT good so keep trying to see him. If you want to improve your golf game, Jack Young is the man to see.
I have been working with Jack for approx 4 years now and his services are great. I started working with him to lower my scores and my handicap was around 16. I continue to take lessons with Jack and my handicap is currently a 10 and dropping. I would definitely recommend Jack for lessons but make sure you sign up early as his schedule fills quickly.

Jack is an excellent golf instructor. He is a PGA certified instructor who is obviously passionate about the game and seems to enjoy sharing his passion through teaching. Using a handy laptop/video setup he instantly zeroed in on the flaw in my swing that had me hitting the ball inconsistently and for the first time in my 10+ years of playing, gave me hope that I can score in the 90’s (or lower) with just a few adjustments. He did a great job helping me to see and understand how to use the clubs correctly. He teaches at a range in Vancouver that is not convenient for me (a Northwest Portlander). But Jack’s instruction is worth it; much better than the lessons I took a few years ago at a popular range/golf course that is closer to home in Washington County.
Jack was fantastic! We are considering more lessons in the future:time/busy schedule permitting. We were also impressed with the facility – very friendly and helpful.
Jack is an excellent instructor. He’s friendly, easy going, and reliable. His strength is that he simplifies his teaching to match each student’s ability to learn. He doesn’t burden students with complex theories – instead, he gives easily understood instruction that follows common sense and is consistent with natural body mechanics and the laws of physics. Each time I see a “new” online golf swing video or read the latest book or magazine article claiming to have the “secret” of the golf swing, I usually can’t resist trying it – always with bad results. I’ve watched tons of videos and read many, many books and articles, and at times have gotten myself totally lost. A visit to Jack always gets my swing back on track. Jack is excellent with golfers of all abilities and ages. My wife and sons took lessons from Jack when they first started learning the game. I highly recommend Jack to anyone who loves golf – whether you’re a beginner looking to get started on the right foot, or a seasoned veteran who needs to correct a swing hitch or move to the next level.
I have been taking lessons from Jack for a couple of years. He has a great way of explaining a golf swing! My game has definitely changed. Recently I shot a record low 76. When I called Jack to tell him, he was as excited as I was! Also, my 9 year old daughter has been taking lessons from Jack for 2 summers. She placed 4th in her Junior Club Tournament – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were all by 11 and 12 year olds! I would recommend Jack Young for players of all skill levels.
I’ve known Jack for over twenty years. I took a video lesson from him and immediately found the results I was looking for.
